Peter Facinelli and Justin Kirk Head to NCTA Cable Show

NEW YORK – May 10, 2010 – SHOWTIME stars Peter Facinelli (Nurse Jackie, Twilight) and Justin Kirk (Weeds) will meet and greet, and take photos with attendees at the NCTA Cable Show 2010 this Wednesday, May 12 at 3:00 p.m. at the Showtime booth (ES-48). The National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s “The Cable Show 2010,” co-chaired this year by SHOWTIME Chairman and CEO Matthew C. Blank, is scheduled from May 11 to May 13, as part of “Cable Connection – Spring” in Los Angeles. The 59th annual convention and international exposition, the cable industry’s premiere U.S. event, will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and the neighboring Nokia Theater.

The SHOWTIME booth at The Cable Show 2010 will include interactive touch-screen kiosks that enable users to watch samples of the network’s programming with a variety of viewing options in HD, and a demonstration of the SHOWTIME Sports Interactive – the first nationwide, high-definition interactive television application using the Enhanced TV Binary Interchange Format (EBIF), which will be included in the SHOWTIME HD feed for select Mixed Martial Arts and boxing telecasts.

Peter Facinelli stars as Dr. Fitch “Coop” Cooper in the critically acclaimed Showtime series Nurse Jackie. Facinelli can also be seen as “Dr. Carlisle Cullen,” the altruistic patriarch of the Cullen clan, in the blockbuster feature films, Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon for Summit Entertainment, based on Stephenie Meyer’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling series. His television credits include a starring role in Fastlane, and a recurring role in the award-winning series Six Feet Under. Born and raised in New York, Facinelli attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Justin Kirk stars as irresponsible brother-in-law Andy Botwin, in the Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominated SHOWTIME series WEEDS, which earned him a Golden Globe® nomination in 2006 for his supporting role in the series. An acclaimed actor, Kirk received Emmy® and SAG® Award nominations for his work in Angels In America. Additional television credits include notable guest spots on Without A Trace, Everwood, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Jack & Jill. Also an accomplished stage actor, Kirk won the Obie Award for Distinguished Performance in the Ensemble in Love! Valour! Compassion! and won a Lucille Lortel Award, and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Ten Unknowns.

NURSE JACKIE, which airs every Monday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME, is a half-hour comedy that is at turns wicked, heartbreaking and funny. Edie Falco stars as the title character Jackie Peyton, a strong-willed, brilliant and occasionally flawed emergency room nurse in a complicated New York City hospital. Throwing a wrench in the machine is the young, seemingly perfect, Dr. Fitch “Coop” Cooper (Facinelli) who typifies the smug, Ivy League doctors who have trolled the hospital halls for decades, leaving the nurses to deal with the repercussions of their drive-by diagnoses. Nurse Jackie was honored as one of AFI’s Top Ten Television Programs of 2009.

WEEDS, the network’s highest-rated comedy series premiering on Monday, August 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, stars Mary-Louise Parker, Justin Kirk and Kevin Nealon, and follows a woman who finds herself a widow with two children and no visible means of supporting them. She starts dealing marijuana in her neighborhood and quickly finds herself navigating a very different breed of business men. WEEDS has been honored with multiple Emmy® and Golden Globe® nominations, and provides edgy and clever commentary on moral values, race relations, class distinctions and the lengths people go to keep up appearances.

The Tudors Dynasty - Beyond Season 5

The Tudors are coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean we can’t continue to voice our love for the show and desire to see it go beyond the Henry years.

The Season 5 premiere continued to show us that Sara Bolger would be a worthy Princess Mary to follow. And, quite frankly, I believe she could carry the show. Of course, it would be a different kind of show without Jonathan Rhys Meyers. We would hardly be privy to the same sexual escapades we witnessed in the past four seasons, right? Wrong. After Henry’s eventual death, Edward Seymour’s nephew, Prince Edward Tudor, became King Edward VI of England, with Edward ruling as Lord Protector. This would be an interesting story in and of itself with the sexual indiscretions of Edward’s wife Anne.

At the end of the day, there are still stories to be told. And, I hope that someone take’s up the mantle to tell them.
