I’m sad to announce that fan favorite Haaz Sleiman has been given the boot from Nurse Jackie. According to the Ausiello Files, Jackie Peyton’s gay sidekick has been given a lethal injection of the worst kind: the pink slip.
Publicity for Sleiman said procution told Sleiman “the character’s storyline ran its course.” His representative further added that he was “surprised. It came out of left field.”
Sadly, we will no longer see the antics of Mo-Mo in the hospital.
Nurse Jackie is officially scheduled to premiere March 22, 2010. The dark comedy/drama starring Edie Falco (The Sopranos, 30 Rock) will be joined on Monday nights by The United States of Tara Season 2, starring Toni Collette.
Nurse Jackie originally premiered in June 2009 as Showtime’s highest rated debut premiere. Since Jackie premiered with Weeds last year, it remains to be seen what show will be partnered with Weeds in 2010. The comedy about a drug dealing mother, Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker), will be entering its sixth season. Weeds’ showrunner, Jenji Kohan, has also hinted about a seventh season, but rumors have yet to be confirmed.
In this clip from “Steak Knife,” Dr. O’Hara offers to pay for Jackie’s daughter’s education, but Jackie refuses her help.

O’Hara, who is usually on her game, is beginning to crack – there’s a crisis in her private life. Jackie invites her to spend the night in Queens. Grace begins school at Immaculate Virgin, and her parents are hopeful that private school will ease her anxiety.

Meanwhile, Coop’s mother (Blythe Danner) is admitted with a gall bladder attack. We learn that he is the only son of lesbians…a fact that delights Jackie and O’Hara.
In this clip, Coop’s mother comes in with stomach pain, and Dr. O’Hara gets to meet his parent.

In episode 105, Jackie breaks several rules and regulations to help a 10-year-old girl caring for her lupus-stricken mother; Mrs. Akalitus accidentally tasers herself; O’Hara treats Zoey to a meal at a four-star restaurant.
